The roof that
protects your
stucco forever.

Every stucco failure starts at the roofline. Step flashing, kickout flashing, counter flashing at chimneys — these are the points where most Utah stucco homes leak. Dallas is the only contractor in Utah who does both roofing and stucco. He integrates them correctly because he understands both systems from the inside out.

Why the Roofline Is the Most Important Part
The roof is the number one cause of stucco failure in Utah. Missing kickout flashing at roof-to-wall junctions. Step flashing not integrated with the stucco moisture barrier. Counter flashing at chimneys that was never embedded correctly. Dallas inspects every roofline before touching the stucco — and fixes what he finds.
Why a Stucco Master Should Do Your Roof

Two systems.
One contractor.

A roofer who doesn't understand stucco will install step flashing that isn't integrated with the moisture barrier. A stucco contractor who doesn't understand roofing will apply stucco over failed flashing. Dallas is the only contractor in Utah who has mastered both — and warranties the complete roof-to-wall transition.

  • Step flashing integrated with stucco moisture barrier — not just nailed to the sheathing and covered with stucco
  • Kickout flashing at every roof-wall junction — the most commonly missed detail on Utah homes
  • Chimney counter flashing embedded in stucco — not just caulked to the surface
  • Valley flashing coordinated with wall systems — water directed away from the wall at every intersection
  • One warranty covers both systems — when Dallas does the roof and stucco together the entire envelope is under one workmanship warranty

The Roofing Process

Every flashing point.
Every transition.

Dallas approaches every roofing project the same way he approaches stucco — forensically. He inspects the entire roof and all wall transitions before recommending a scope. He shows you everything he finds before touching anything.

The Three Flashing Points Dallas Never Skips
1. Kickout flashing — at every point where a roof slope ends at a wall. Diverts water away from the wall. Missing on most Utah homes built before 2010.

2. Step flashing — individual pieces of flashing at every course of shingles along a wall. Must be integrated with the stucco moisture barrier — not just surface applied.

3. Counter flashing at chimneys — embedded into the stucco or mortar — not just caulked to the surface. Caulk fails. Embedded counter flashing lasts decades.
1
Full roof and transition inspection
Dallas inspects the entire roof surface, all wall transitions, chimney flashing, valley flashing, and all penetrations. Documents everything with photographs before starting.
2
Remove old roofing and inspect decking
Tear off existing shingles. Inspect roof decking for rot, delamination, or damage. Replace any damaged decking before new roofing goes on.
3
Install ice and water barrier
Self-adhesive ice and water barrier at all eaves, valleys, and penetrations. Critical for Utah's freeze-thaw climate. Ice dams cannot penetrate a correctly installed ice barrier.
4
Install all flashing first
Drip edge, step flashing, kickout flashing, valley flashing, and chimney counter flashing all installed before a single shingle goes on. Flashing is not an afterthought.
5
Install underlayment and shingles
Synthetic underlayment over the entire deck. Architectural shingles installed per manufacturer specification — correct nail placement, correct exposure, correct starter strip.
6
Integrate with stucco system
All wall-to-roof transitions integrated with the existing stucco moisture barrier. This is the step most roofers skip entirely. Dallas does it correctly every time.

Frequently Asked Questions

Roofing
answered.

The questions Utah homeowners ask before replacing a roof on a stucco home.

How much does a roof replacement cost in Utah?
A typical asphalt shingle roof replacement on a Utah home runs $8,000 to $18,000 depending on square footage, pitch, complexity, and shingle line chosen. Stucco homes add cost for correct flashing integration at all wall transitions. Dallas provides a written itemized estimate after inspection — call (801) 518-5030.
Why should my roofer understand stucco?
The most common cause of water damage behind Utah stucco is failed roofing transitions — missing kickout flashing, incorrectly installed step flashing, and chimney counter flashing that was never properly integrated. A roofer who doesn't understand the stucco moisture barrier system will install flashing that looks correct but doesn't protect the wall. Dallas is a 40-year stucco master who does roofing. He integrates both systems correctly.
Which shingle brand is best for Utah?
All four brands Dallas carries — GAF, CertainTeed, TAMKO, and Owens Corning — perform well in Utah's climate when correctly installed. GAF Timberline HDZ is the most installed shingle in Utah and a reliable choice at every price point. CertainTeed Landmark PRO is popular on higher-end homes for its dimensional appearance. Owens Corning Duration Storm offers Class 4 impact resistance for hail-prone areas. Dallas recommends based on your specific home, budget, and location.
How long does a roof replacement take?
A typical single family home roof replacement takes 1 to 3 days for the roofing work. Stucco integration at wall transitions may add 1 to 2 days depending on scope. Total project typically 2 to 5 days. Dallas provides a detailed schedule with every written estimate.
What warranty comes with a new roof?
Two warranties apply. The shingle manufacturer warranty — GAF Lifetime, CertainTeed SureStart PLUS, TAMKO Limited Lifetime, or Owens Corning Limited Lifetime depending on brand chosen. Plus Dallas's 1-year workmanship warranty on all installation work including flashing integration. Both provided in writing before work starts.
