A Day in the Life
What This Job Actually Looks Like
Stucco application is physical, skilled work. Early starts, outdoor job sites across Salt Lake Valley and the Wasatch Back. Every day is different.
6:30 AM
Load Up and Roll Out
Meet at the shop in West Valley City. Load the truck with lath, paper, materials. Dallas briefs the crew on the day's job โ what we're doing, what to watch for, what the homeowner cares about.
7:30 AM
Job Site Setup
Lay drop cloths, mask windows and trim, set up the mixer. Dallas walks the wall and marks every problem area. No surprises โ you know what you're walking into before you start.
8:00 AM
Lath and Paper
Double-ply Grade D building paper, 17-gauge galvanized wire lath fastened to studs at 6-inch centers. The foundation of everything. Dallas checks every section personally.
10:00 AM
Base Coat Application
Mix Portland cement base coat and apply to full coverage. This is where the skill shows. Consistent thickness, proper embedment in the lath, clean edges at all transitions.
2:00 PM
Water Cure Begins
Base coat goes on โ water cure starts. Dallas waters every base coat for 7 full days. You learn why this matters. Most contractors skip it. Dallas never does.
4:30 PM
Wrap Up and Clean
Clean tools, wash mixer, cover any exposed work. Dallas does a final walkthrough. If something isn't right it gets fixed before tomorrow. No exceptions.
What We're Looking For
Dallas Hires for Character First. Skills Second.
Dallas hires for attitude and work ethic first. Stucco experience is a plus โ but he can teach the trade to the right person.
Show Up on Time
Every day. 6:30 AM means 6:30 AM. Dallas is always there first.
Work Hard
Stucco is physical work. Hot summers, cold mornings, outdoor all day. You need to be built for it.
Pay Attention
Dallas teaches as he works. If you're not watching and listening you're missing the education.
Take Pride
You're putting your name on someone's home. Dallas expects you to care about that.
Experience Helps
Stucco, masonry, or general construction experience is a plus. Not required for the right person.
Valid Driver's License
You'll drive to job sites. Clean driving record preferred.
