What This Job Actually Looks Like
Deck building at Christensen Stucco means building Trex composite decks to manufacturer standards โ proper ledger flashing, structural framing, composite decking, and custom railing systems.
7:00 AM
Review Plans and Layout
Dallas reviews the deck design with the crew. Dimensions, railing style, access points, special features. You know the finished product before you drive the first screw.
8:00 AM
Ledger and Footings
Ledger board installation with proper flashing โ this is the most critical step. A ledger that allows water infiltration destroys the house framing. Dallas inspects every ledger personally.
9:30 AM
Post and Beam Framing
Set posts, install beams, frame the deck structure. Level and square โ everything downstream depends on the framing being right. Dallas checks with a level at every stage.
11:00 AM
Joist Installation
Install joists at proper spacing for Trex composite. Blocking at ends and mid-span. Hidden fastener system requires precise joist spacing โ you learn to work to tight tolerances.

Trex Decking
Trex composite decking with hidden fasteners. Consistent spacing, proper end cuts, clean board-to-board transitions. Trex looks best when it's installed to exact manufacturer spec.

Railing Systems
Aluminum railing, cable railing, or Trex composite railing. Post spacing, top and bottom rail, baluster installation. The railing is what people notice first โ it needs to be perfect.
What We're Looking For
Dallas Hires for Character First. Skills Second.
Deck building experience is strongly preferred. Framing skills and comfort with power tools are essential.
Deck or Framing Experience
Previous deck building or residential framing experience strongly preferred.
Power Tool Proficiency
Miter saw, circular saw, drill, framing nailer. You need to be comfortable and safe with all of them.
Structural Understanding
You need to understand why ledger flashing matters, why post spacing matters, why the framing has to be right. Not just how to do it โ why.
Finish Mindset
Decks are visible โ homeowners look at them every day. The work needs to look as good as it performs.
Math Skills
Deck layout involves a lot of measurement and calculation. You need to be comfortable with numbers.
Physical Fitness
Carrying lumber, concrete, and heavy materials. This is physical work.
